What a fabulous find! And excellent coverage for the hobby as well!

Love the comment from the mum at the end, my other half gives similar ones when asked about my detecting, that's a comment made by someone that has no interest in detecting and has no idea why anyone does it, but is humouring a member of their family!

Cracking find, lots of broken ones in the picture, and given the large number I wonder if they had been collected and stored in order to melt and recast.

Aye, it has all the hallmarks of a founder's hoard

That's the words I was looking for but couldn't bring to mind, I've spent all day doing tests for my FCA authorisation and my brain is full of endowments and cap and collar mortgages, neither of which have been sold in the time I have been a mortgage broker!

cap and collar mortgages
Do they need to match? No, hold on... I'm thinking of something else  . Never heard of em. And, thankfully, having paid mine off today I never need worry about them

For me, a founder's hoard knocks spots off a coin hoard any day of the wossname. But then again I'm weird. I recall going in to my FLO to practice database entries and there in front of me was a BA hoard laid out on two tables (there were that many items). I could hardly concentrate, so close was I to so many fabulous artefacts. Never forget it and I've got a pic somewhere <insert dribbling emoticon here>

I could explain what they are, but I don't want to and no one else wants me to, they're so boring that if I go into detail I'm liable to fall asleep mid post.

Congrats on being mortgage free, that's a good day.

I've never found a hoard, but as I have so far not found even one bronze age artifact I have to say I'm a little jealous, however I'm happy to see someone find one, and it's good that they did what they were supposed to and got the archies to finish digging it out so they can record the things they need to record, every article where something is done properly is a slap in the face to our mate in Poland. ;)
