Met up with Kevin today for a charity dig in Berkshire raising money for repairs to the local church clock.
Amongst the .303 shells out popped a 1941 shilling in nice condition, our theory is it was lost while the Home Guard were having target practice and was going to be used to buy a few pints on the way home.

Good to see you got out together.

The homeguard unit in my village was highly regarded and I have found a fair few .303 bullets and the odd just pre-war or war time coin in the same areas, so agree the coin could well be related to the bullets.

Give me a shout the any time you have a charity dig, as always good to meet up and support a good cause.
