Can anyone help with this one, i have no idea what purpose it served, it appears to be a picture of a thistle, the back is blank and it’s about 6mm thick.

6mm thick :o hmmmm personal weight? Like a coin weight? There were silver thistle ones around the time of James I like this one

Might be worth weighing in case it is?

Don't know why that should be, but I've rotated and cropped it for you, using the basic paint programme

Sometimes if the width of a photo is too wide, then the forum software will flip it so as not to stretch the width of the forum theme to the point where it is unreadable and unsightly
But
If you click the photo in your post it will show it at the correct orientation
Its a quirk i have been looking into and seeing if i can change any of the settings to make it stop

I have edited your post to show your photo the right way round for you, and will look into this issue, once i have had another brew
Edit
Figgis beat me to it
