Hello and welcome to the forum.

You have plenty of WWII history around you, are you able to detect on / near any of the WWII airfield?.

Yep with plenty of shrapnel but you have to dig it. I live 300 yards from the runway and I detected my front garden before we paved it and found two live rounds and a cap badge. Turned out they camped on the land when it was a farm before they dropped troops in behind enemy lines in ww2

That can only be a good thing. Peeps only use MLO to glean info and only post a few times and then bog off.
We really need a forum the like of ukdn/Detectorist/rally uk where loads of folk get involved.
I really hope this forum takes off because we need a resource to combat Facebook.

FB has its place (though damned if I know what that place is, exactly) but what we're aiming at is somewhere to kick back, relax, and have continuity and searchability on subjects discussed. There are other forums of course, but not quite like this one ;)

IMHO searchability is a massive advantage of forums, we all have had cases where we have seen "something" before and after a search found the information that we required. Likewise most questions have been asked before so after a while this becomes a very useful database. While on FB its here now, then disappears and is never seen again.
