A little circular item (possibly a button)?

Another one rescued from the grubby finds pouch and found while detecting before the new restrictions.

It came from the 'good' field and I've had finds from different ages, BA, Roman, up to more recent. This was only quite shallow in the freshly ploughed up field, a couple of inches deep or there abouts. I've had a couple of small Roman coins and a forged Hammered from the same area of the field.

It feels fairly weighty for it's small size, 5.48 grams to be exact. I'm not 100% sure what it's made of, but it has a dark brown colour and it might be a copper alloy?

It looks as though it might have some age to it, but I've thought that before with other items. :D
I'm not sure what to make of the underside, there appear to be a couple of protrusions along the edge?

I do hope it's not a knackered battery end! :D Thanks very much for taking a look.
