The size of it would about make a finger ring!

Brooch for me. How about a little wager? 2lbs of Bruce's black jelly bean stash?

I’d guesstimate the length of that as 14cm, therefore the diameter would be 4.5ish cm. too big for a finger ring, unless it was worn by King Kong :D

Brooch for me.
Always carefully proof-read what you've typed to see if you've any words out.

Is it whole or a fragment though
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

  I think I thought the same when I first found it, and hence it went on the pile. There was something about the ends that just looked too modern - Ah well, that Roman brooch will be out there somewhere!

What about the horse head? Modern decoration / toy? Or something much older? I'm not sure what the metal is, it's very thin and hard (not lead) but does have some weight to it...

I'm not convinced that it is a horse head, maybe more like a ram or a deer? Looks like lead though.

I think the photo doesn't do it justice, but it's definitely a horse with a large ruffle/mane and a bit in its mouth. Also 100% not lead, it's too hard. You wouldn't be able to scratch it with a nail. I wonder if it was plated and the plating has worn off.
