Found this coin the other day in a field in South Wales that previously I have only found coins as early as Queen Victoria, looks like a ship or galley on one side and figure holding two staves on the other.

Any help with ID would be much appreciated thanks.

Wow. Total belter. :o

Certainly worth a gentle brush up, and the legend on the obverse should read ANT AVG above the galley and III VIR RPC below. The reverse is the legionary eagle between two standards with the legend LEG XX. 32-31 BC.

I mean, blimey, what a cracking find

Must admit I wasn't expecting to find a Roman coin and when It popped out of the ground I wasn't convinced it was until I gave it a clean and then had it expertly ID by the more knowledgeable members of the forum. Thanks again good people, happy days
