Going through the finds from last week I thought this coin was a new 5 pence piece which had been in the slurry that had been put on the field in previous years.(coin quite small)

I realised this morning it had Britannia on the reverse but I'm not sure which monarch? (Not sure which way is up.)

The only coin I can match it up size wise in the Spinks book is a Queen Victoria Third-Farthing 1844 for use in Malta.

Thank you.........Doug.

Rarely issued denomination.
First photo needs rotating, 90 degrees anti clockwise, can just make out VICTORIA ? on the legend.
Cheers,
Dave.

This appears to be the correct orientation with date at bottom but looks like 183x or 188x though still doesn't fit right.

  : It had to be out there somewhere. Never seen one before. Just goes to show there are still coins to be found that we are totally unaware of still.

Well that was different.
Without Allectus, no way we would have had the correct ID.
If Doug had not dug this coin, we would not have known of its existence and History.
Cheers,
