Greetings to all.
Just discovered the Hub, and thought I'd better introduce myself.
Firstly, thank you for having me aboard.
I believe there are some members here who may remember me from 'another' forum where my user name is Roughwood.
However, I was looking for a change and thought I'd have a change of identity too, just to complicte things...

I live in Breckland, South Norfolk and have been detecting for around three years now. I have two permissions. One is just three small pasture fields - never found much there, but it's a nie place to spend a day.
The other is a small farm which has yielded a good number of decent finds. It's kind of grown as I have got to know the farmer better, and now and again he reveals little bits that I was unaware of previously.

In common with everyone else, I can't wait for better times!

I'll now go and have a good nose around...
All the best,
Mike

I remember you Mike  I am absolutely delighted to be the first to welcome you to the hub. We, like pretty much every other forum, are pretty quiet right now but we are far busier normally we promise :D

Any questions please don’t hesitate to shout - we’re pretty laid back with few rules and regs :D

Well good evening to you too Mike and welcome in to the Hub
Nice to see you here

Good that you have some permissions in Norfolk, i heard that its quite hard to gain any there
We have a few members from your area who will no doubt be along soon

Feel free to show off any of your finds as its quite slow at the moment on the detecting front in England
No need to resize your photos as its done for you, and no limit on your daily photo quota  although its only 6 photos per post, but just make another post under it to add more

What ho, young Michael. Good to see you, fellah

The last time I saw you, you were crouched down in a field eating cake

Hope you enjoy the forum, chap and look forward to seeing your posts again.

(Sturmey Archer - a name I recall from my youth when changing gear on my bike. Or in some cases not changing gear as the thing was stuck in third which made making a quick getaway somewhat challenging  )

Hi Mike and welcome.
Looking forward to what you do uncover, when we finally return to Detecting.
Good Luck,

Well, thanks for the warm welcome. Nice to see some familiar (and friendly) folks on here! I had a feeling that I might...
Not sure if my change of identity is such a good idea, but never mind.

Yes John, SturmeyArcher gears! Fantastic things.
The bike I have these days has a similar three speed hub made by Shimano, but not as good in my opinion.

I wonder if I might ask about showing finds that were made before the lockdown? I have two or three things that I found last time out (early December I think) and would like to try and get an opinion on - but I appreciate the sensitivity of the current time, so happy to abide by whatever the rules may be.

Hello, welcome

It would be good to see your pre lockdown finds, its a bit short on finds and something to look at because of the non detecting at the moment.

There's no restriction as far as I am aware, might just be worth putting something to say found during permitted detecting period, but not mandatory, so crack on as they say

Hi Mike
Pre-lockdown finds are fair game if you'd like to show them or get an ID on them
We have detectorists here itching to get out, so next best thing is set them some ID homework

As for your name, if you want it changed to your previous name then let one of us know and we will make it so

Thank you. I shall attempt to get some decent pictures together, and send them in.
As for the name - yes, it's too confusing... please change it!

All the best
