Metal detectors of the future

Leaving aside any current nuances that we have we todays technology......what sort of things can you invisage being built into the detectors of the future?

I suppose the glaring one would be ground penetration x-ray
So you discover a signal, hit a button and it x-rays the ground and gives you an image of whats down there :shock:
I know thats far into the future with the size of x-ray equipment now, but would be a good dig or no dig decision made for you :lol:

Maybe get rid of detectors altogether and you get an implant in your head so you can see through the soil and can dig whenever you ‘see’ something interesting beneath the ground.

VLF simultaneous multi-frequency combined with the power of PI. So both VLF & PI operating together at the same time.
D2 - 13"x11" coil - audio only.

A mini digger? It takes a perfect square of soil out and flips it over, with the target in the centre at all times. Bliss :D

I'm not too ambitious, just a machine that can 100% tell you the metal is there and at what depth.
Always carefully proof-read what you've typed to see if you've any words out.
Deus with 11" X35 and 9" HF coils. MI 6 pinpointer.

I’ve always wondered if ultra sound, like baby scanners could ever be adapted, without the gel of course. Possibly in a pin pointer type way after a target is picked up ?

I'd just like a performance standard to get rid of all the spurious advertising and claims, much of which is boswellox!

I suppose the day will come when detectors will tell you what it is and how deep, then tell you a joke and bath the kids. Personally, I like going through the "dig-don't dig" process and the uncertainty which comes with it so if that day does come, you won't find me in the queue for such technology. :thumbsup:

Agreed on that too. Gosh I’m agreeing a lot with you today. Still wouldn’t mind help with the digging though :lol:

Forget X-Ray - your body would be absorbing too much radiation with multiple use :problem:
