This little spiked object came out of the mud on Friday . I thought it was part of a nail so popped it in the scrap bag and it was only when cleaning the mud away it revealed itself to possibly being a little more interesting than the usual nails etc .
62 mm long and 4mm diameter at its widest end .Possibly copper
Any help on ID please before its relegated to the scrap box .

Looks interesting, Paul.
Does not look like scrap and inclined to go with Bruce, on the Id.
Worth sending details to your FLO.
Nearest match i could find,

Not as good as your example, measurements similar..
Intriguing find.
Dave.

Looks like bronze  . Certainly could be a stylus. Is there a break on the blunt end?
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Nice find, and well spotted

It could very well be a stylus, though in the absence of decorative detail dating them is difficult. And I wouldn't rule out its being a pin either.

On closer inspection there does look to be a feint pair of lines going around the tip end .

A four sided point? If so then not a stylus.
