This was in the pile of wet mud caked bits and bobs from my Friday trip out and to be honest I thought it was a button as it appeared to be smooth and was a very dark brown almost black in colour . After a wipe down and clean I could just about make out some detail plus there was no evidence of a shank so it was looking promising .
For a brief moment I thought possibly a very worn silver hammered coin but did the foil test with not a whiff of any eggy smell so that ruled that out for silver . Bit of a nightmare to photograph in the right light but I think I have managed best as I could .
I can just make out what I think is a date of 1667 ? after this there also a legend which also looks to read "great" but I cannot confirm . The rest of the coins detail is very feint but appears to have some sort of shield design in the centre on both faces .
The coin looks silver but in certain light you can see a hint of copper .
Coin is 18mm diameter .
Any help on an ID would be much appreciated . I have had a good look online but cannot get anywhere near .

Always a bonus Paul, when something turns out to be something else.
Looks to be 1667 to me as well.
No doubt an ID of some sorts, will shed more info.
Cheers,
Dave.

Coin/token rather than jetton for me, and for some reason "Dutch" came to mind at first, but is that "Norwich" I can see in the second image reading from 12 o'clock?
