Evening All,
Firstly twice sorry for quality off image and lack of scale... no excuses but its just shy of a modern five pence piece.
I thought firstly it was a hammered silver coin ( when I raised it from the Hertfordshire clay!) from the size and weight but then the colour did not improve with rubbing so that was out... then I thought rose farthing but it is far thinner and finer than any rose farthing I've found... on cleaning once I got it home I can see "CARO" so presume a Charles farthing of sorts.... it is lead coloured... might it be tin based? I don't have my Spink to hand so completely helpless!
Any knowledge and help gratefully accepted.
