I’ve decided I need to slap myself with a wet fish and give myself a lecture. Why? Because I went out for 2.5 hours on Monday a pasture field I’ve been on before but largely ignored. I came home disappointed but I found some interesting things. None were medieval though so maybe that’s the issue? Or maybe not being able to detect for so long has just made me have expectations that are unattainable? Anyway I should get a grip cause there were some nice finds in amongst this lot, and a bit of silver

It’s an interesting field and always gives me finds but more interesting fields usually get my attention instead. Because we are restricted on where we can go right now it was worth another shot and I did have lots of fun. Even managed to dodge the rain too.

So the finds...

nice George V Shilling

Two nice buckles

Two discs of ‘something’ - think one was a cloth seal and the other I thought was a smoothed William III sixpence but now don’t think it’s silver at all :problem:

Nice buckles.
I too have decided to spend some time on a large pasture field which I have mainly previously ignored for the far more productive surrounding fields. I don't expect many keepers but know that there should be a few decent finds hiding there somewhere.
Good things come to those who wait.

Can't blame you for feeling out of sorts after a year's worth of weirdness.

I regularly get myself worked up about possible finds when I go out. Particularly as my fields are completely littered with rubbish. I always imagine gold coins and rings and amazing things, that in reality I won’t find, so naturally, when I don’t find them I’m a little disappointed. 🤦‍♀️ Combined with the fact that I haven’t been out in so long makes it a little worse.

I too need a slap with a fish. 🐟🐠🐡

The Buckles are very nice Cath. . Hey ! I can still remember many years ago on one particular day ,going out at around 10 am and not getting home till 5pm and all I had to show for my hours of tramping the fields was a solitary brass threepenny bit. Now that, is soul destroying believe me.

I`ve put well over a stone or more on in weight and I feel FAT :(

You won’t be alone! Good excuse to go detecting even more when things get a bit safer. Hope you are doing OK, it’s been a long time... too long!

I'd call that a good day, love the buckles.
Just great being able to be out again, finds are a bonus , not a good given.

Cath, nothing wrong with your haul.
I have never found a Silver Shilling or 2 buckles that are complete , let alone as ornate as those.
Even the smooth Silver coin would be something.
Unless travel restrictions get lifted, detecting inland could be out until post Harvest.
Cheers,
Dave.
