I found this copper/alloy item on a well trodden footpath. It is 32mm x 16mm. The tiny end loop was complete when dug. I'm sure I have seen these before but just can't think what it is, any ideas?

I was going to suggest a drawer fitting - but it maybe a little too small for that, unless it was from a smaller chest type drawer set?

The small hole is only about 1mm so perhaps was attached to a thin chain, or not?

Another guess - Georgian / Victorian fob seal fragment?

I think if you cleaned it up and got rid of a lot of that crud off it could help a bit more in determining what its off , "possibly" ? You may see some markings or a bit more definition at least .
