With the relaxation in the lockdown rules I had my first trip to my nearest beach the other day. Following the guidelines, especially distancing from people, it was great to get out and have a change of scenery, enjoy the fresh sea air, get some exercise and even speak to a few people (which has been a rare event in lockdown), and as normal on a beach where most people were walking dogs it was great to be briefly joined by the bundles of joy.

The other day I said in my Noah's Ark Buckles thread viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1613& about finds coming 2 by 2. Well this was one of those days.

Finds were -
Spendables, £1 x 2, 20p x 2, 5p x 2 = £2.50, which last year would have been 50p towards travel costs ... but parking is now £2.50 for the day so would have come out level if I had not bought a well deserved ice cream (and by so doing supported a hard hit local business).

Yale type keys 2.

.303 cases 1

So as you can clearly see with the exception of the .303 case I found 2 of every thing.

So come on which of you found my missing .303 case?

Certainly wasn't ice cream weather here, so hats off to a bit of optimism on the part of the vendor and to you for supporting them

I'll be doing much the same when able, starting with the The White Hart :D

I don’t know who stole the bullet case but it wasn’t me :D Glad you had a good day Evan. How many kids (big and small) did you have asking what you’d found?
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Figgis, the trip was a few days ago when the weather was nicer, and certainly warmer, and after back and forth on the beach for several hours the ice cream was well deserved in my view, and it was very much enjoyed.

With lockdown its been very hard for all outlets, especially the small ones that can not so easily go online and do not have millions in the bank to support then, so when possible I like to use little places like this kiosk which only sells ice cream, sweets, cold drinks and the odd little thing to people using the carpark for the beach.

When rules allow I will also be supporting my local pubs, but sitting outdoors. To survive my one local which normally does a good trade with food has introduced a "food wagon" in the carpark where I got a very tasty curry the other evening, much better supporting local businesses like this than driving miles (which it would be in my case as I am out in the sticks) to get an inferior "fast meal" from one of the large chains.

Oxgirl, I chose this beach as its fairly quiet rather than full of tourists even in summer so I new I could easily social distance, even with the parking. But it is very popular with dog walkers (unlike the nearest "town beaches" I think dogs are allowed all year), so nearly all the conversations were about dogs. I might of had one "what have you found" but that is all, unlike on some beaches.

Due to it not being a main "tourist beach" and time of year I knew the finds would be very limited, but it was just enjoyable to get out and be some where different after being locked in for so long and what has seemed a long winter. But it did seem very strange that every denomination of coin I found I had 2 of, plus the 2 yale keys so when I found the 303 I was expecting another although I have never had one on this beach previously.
