Evening all, had a few hour ot this morning, out on the 1st field just after 7 then off the 2nd by 10, the Mrs was working, thats why I pigged the beef rib to myself tonight  dont tell her :silent:

So, got on one of the fields I enjoy the most first thing, rolled absolutely billiard table like, apart from the other footprints and digs that is  , bloody footprint followers or chancers, I think the former but not sure.
Anyways, had the hammered penny which turns out to be my second sterling immitation from there, this one turned out to be of Hartrad of Schonecken.........thats what I thought to  , who I am reliaby informed was suffocated by his own armour :D what a bunch these Europeans were even back then, first one I had was John the Blind who died in battle,,,,,,,because he couldnt see, and now this fella gets done by his own armour

So, after all the footprints everywhere I couldnt get my head in the right place so upedsticks and headed to a Roman field, didnt have too long left but managed 4 or 5 grots and a pretty rare Constantine I, SOL INVICTO COMITI, London, mintmark MLL and with the obverse legend ending AG rather than the usual AVG

Last decent thing to come up was a seal, part of a fob seal I think but could possibly be from a ring, its a Lurcher type dog beneath a tree and above a torse, so a family emblem, closest Ive seen is on the livery buttons identyfied site, MALLOY Middlesex, but who knows.

Oh, and not forgetting the pidgeon, don't know where the rest of him went, could be anywhere, he was legless when last seen,
All the best Chaps,
aoo

Well done Phil, great finds there, even though I hurt my neck trying to look at them!
Can't help with phone photos, I've been off line for a week before last Thursday, the other half was fed up with the work computer trying to do my paper work, so grabbed my card & a big box of techy stuff with an apple on turned up, so trying to learn new computer, phone & pad all over again & it's doing my head in, managed to get detecting & football stuff back up, just work stuff now!

Well if you click on the photos so they go bigger they go back to being the right way up :D Good for your old eyes too (and mine  ). Lovely write up

Are you intending to keep that pigeon bone then Alloverover?

Love those Sterling Imitations. Only ever had one but it was a corker, would love to find some more so very jealous. Like that seal too. Commiserations on the Roman

Do you still have a bad problem with unwanted visitors? I’d be livid if I caught them. Hope it was just the farmer though, or dog walkers!
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

That last pic brought back some memories and a smile.
One of the Rallies I went to I had one of them but mine had craws as well.
Voted the most unusual find of the day and a pic in the days write up.

The other finds aren’t bad either, well done

Thanks for the tale, Phil  Great finds as usual, especially that lovely little Constantine which looks in good nick.

Pity about the interlopers though. Is the field next to a road?
