Please say hi to our new members Rover, RuthH, Allymac, WendyWoo and Dan Fox

Lovely to have you on board. Please don’t hesitate to ask anything you aren’t sure about, no question is too silly.

Oh and to post a new topic you have to scroll down to the section you want to post in. When you click on it a ‘new topic’ button appears and it’s pretty easy from there. It confuses all new members!

[Kenneth Williams]Ooh, allo [/Kenneth Williams]

Welcome, all  Make yourselves comfy and just shout if you have any questions. A good question to ask is, "What are you drinking?" to which the answer is usually, "A large gin."

Have fun

Welcome everybody.

Metal detecting is a fascinating, but frustrating, hobby that soon becomes adictive.
If you expect to go out and find "treasure" straight away sorry but you almost certainly will not!
If you want to get some fresh air, exercise, and may be find the odd interesting item and learn a bit of history relating to it and are willing to put up with sessions only finding rubbish then metal detecting is for you.

If new to metal detecting I am sure you will have questions to ask, but as many newbies have the same kind of question they could well have been asked before so its often worth using the "Search" facility that you can access from the "Quick Links" in the top left of the home page. This is one great advantage of a forum over say Facebook where things are soon lost on here you can always search for old items. If you can not find the answer then do ask as we are a friendly bunch.

I'd rather search for them in a field somewhere. :D

Which presupposes that there's a way to snore elegantly.

I didn't hear you snoring, by the way.

Ah.

For the benefit of our new members (or anyone else, for that matter) I have to qualify that by saying that Cath once kipped in her camper van near my tent when we were on a dig a while back. And now I'm going to shut up a lot.
