A knob or something else?

I thought I had best put this up just in case it isn't scrap. Made of solid copper alloy with iron on the back. 24mm diameter and 22mm in depth. It's quite weighty and appears to have been attached to iron.

Don't think I'd be lobbing that anywhere near the scrap pile for a while: any finial/stud with an iron spike is worth holding on to.

I find it difficult to differentiate Roman studs from some furniture knobs so have taken to bagging and showing them to the FLO just in case. Always worth checking

I didn't notice the milled edge until I saw my own pics! It's machined so not too old really. But I quite like it so won't scrap it.

Looks like a bit dangerous for a drawer knob. But it could be the top of a fire poker. ,!.

I wonder if it may be a tightening knob due to the milled edge for grip, for something like callipers or a compass
