The field I was on today produced quite a bit of lead, from bullets and musket balls, to the usual formless lead blogs.

In amongst the concentration of lead blogs, the flat lead disc below turned up...It is of uniform flatness, around 4mm thick..The hole in the centre looks squared..

Although not of the more usual type, I wondered if it could be a spindle whorl? If so anybody any idea of its likely are?

Here are the other two lead items that caught my eye..

The one on the left looks like it had a barrel shape to it originally, while the long thin item on the right looks like it may have been split almost entirely long it length and then "crimped" back together???

The one on the right looks like a line weight.

Did wonder that myself when I found it, but after a little cleaning, it's definitely not rolled...

With regards a line weight, I am not sure it would be a fishing weight but it could be meant to slide into some other sort of line and pinched into place..

Not too sure about your ‘possible spindle whorl’ the holes are usually round.
Maybe a spacer ?
Love bits like that. Proves someone’s ingenuity, a home made make-shift. I’ve got loads of bits in my lead box. Mostly off cuts, some could be’s. Probably never know.

Bits of lead like this drive me potty! lol It obviously a "something" but as you say we will probably never know.

The reason I wondered about it being a spindle whorl is that I have seen pics of very similar stone whorls complete with small squarish holes..

The hole looks to be slightly tapered so maybe had a square nail through it?
