But fear not dear reader, I have not got rid of my Nox, and I have no intention of doing that anytime soon, but the ORX is here, and will be used on those occasions when the soil demands a different approach.
Having said that, as the ORX is new and I have to learn its foibles, I will be using it on my next two digs, just to see how it performs.
Oh dear, what have I done.

Just wondering how your getting on with the Orx?

From what I have seen in the sagas, I am really impressed with the full tone of the Deus light. It reminds me of the sovereign tones which were brilliant for a avoiding foil, a major problem with my Goldmaxx.

If it’s any help I too have the ORX as well as the Nox and I believe that they compliment each other,so good luck and happy hunting.

Very late to this as I have been AWOL for much of the year.

But I have to say that i love my Nox but I fully agree with it being absolutely pants on any fluffy soil. pointless going on to summer-dry soil once the crop stubble has been disked or harrowed in. I have to either brave the stubble or wait until the soil has settled and/or been rolled. Which narrows the window of time considerably in some crop-rotations. I have recently found it is also pretty poor on damp ploughed with air holes as well. Mostly plough is heavy enough to settle under it's own weight but my best field was recently ploughed very late after it had had its growth of green manure. It is very clayey soil and has ended up holding it's shape for a long time with lots of air holes somehow fixed in place as it dried in the wind. The nox keeps giving me very dodgy signals and it is so frustrating as I never got this with the GMP. I will be glad when it is raked and rolled but I have no idea when that will be. Could be fallow for a while now.
Every detector has a weak spot and this is the Nox's. I've fiddled and twiddled with settings and frequencies (and I loath fiddling and twiddling)....but still pants.

Have you tried going into single frequency mode and trying the various frequencies available?

Yep Pete, Not much improvement and not much fun tbh. The ground has a few characteristics which make it difficult at the best of times. I simply find it easier to wait until it has settled. We've had a good dollop of rain recently so maybe that has fixed it. Otherwise i will have to pinch pete's racer and have a waft on it with that instead.
