Please could someone help me to identify my first Roman coin find. Hopefully the photos are good enough. Thank you any help you can give. Regards Derek

Well done on finding your first :thumbsup:

Best I can do at the moment is that it's a 4thC House of Constantine nummus, GLORIA EXERCITVS reverse, which looks decidedly crude. Sadly there's nothing on the obverse to help narrow it down. Will it clean up any further?

I agree with figgis but would narrow it down to Constantius II myself. :thumbsup:

Is that based on the single standard reverse type, Keith? I mean, if you can make out anything on the obverse you must be some sort of witch to get an ID off it :lol:

Other side is very poor sadly...

They were contemporary local coins of a similar style but poorer quality. Guessing (as no Roman expert) it was a mixture of lack of supply, cost cutting, etc.
