I had a little chuckle at this one on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-rare-Vi ... .l4275.c10

Described as a viking zoomorphic beasts buckle, the description says "found at Fulford York England in 1976 at the area of the battle in 1066 AD, if this could only talk".

If it could talk, I doubt it could tell you much about the battle of 1066, considering that it's a broken tudor buckle...

It seems the seller only sells rare or very rare items with a "must read" description

Although I did see this lot - I wonder if Dave is tempted   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174659782326 ... Sw-iFgPNu8

£25 for some manky ole buttons with a brief description of some historic event which had nothing to do with them, eh? Got to admire the bloke's neck. :D

It goes by the name of deception.

The "must read malarkey" is just to build the deceptive vision up to get the juices flowing and help persuade yourself its the real deal. :D

Gee, that's almost three quid a button! I could do you about a thousand at just two quid each. You know you want to, I'll even throw in free delivery and a few of your favourite four hole buttons!

I know a guy who bought a 'genuine' bronze age axe head from there for £70, it clearly wasn't!

The place is alive with chancers touting toot as treasure and there are sadly those gullible enough to go for it  I mean, just look at the amount of Celtic ring money on offer  I'm sure there used to be a "report seller" button within easy reach, but blowed if I can find it now.

Yes but it is said that one man's junk is another man's treasure! :D
I've never sold any finds but if I could get £45 for a crappy broken buckle I'd be quite temped!

I'm thinking of bagging up my very rare and extremely valuable buttons. With the proceeds, I'll buy a new house, Lamborghini and a super yacht.

Celtic ring money, you say? Well, you're in luck, because York Antiquities has some of that too!
