Think I've just hit on something a bit nice this afternoon.
Out on the same field I found the Gothic florin at the weekend. Only been out about an hour when I got a good repeatable 19 signal on the Nox.
Then boom out came this brooch.
After a quick clean up I had to walk back home as I couldn't concentrate to carry on detecting.

It is 45mm Diameter
Thickness 10.8mm.
Weight 46.52 g.
The stone has a deep red hue, so am guessing garnet or ruby ?
Please can anyone give me any idea on possible date?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Reiver.

I think you underestimated your boom.... it should have been BOOM

Keep looking at it, make lots of pictures / videos, as I don't think you'll be seeing that again until it's in a museum
I'm assuming it will fall under the treasure act....
Always carefully proof-read what you've typed to see if you've any words out.

Not surprised!!!! Good feeling that though! Well done
I think shaggy is right - blame the tooth fairy and keep it somewhere safe!!! Wretched Treasure Process....

(P.S not suggesting shaggy advocates keeping it stum btw!)

That`s the best item i have seen on the Hub. :clapping:
Can`t wait to see what your FLO says about this.
This item could be heading to the top of their list and then probably the long slow Treasure process.
As already said, savour it while you have chance.
Superb find !!
Cheers,
Dave.

I bet they are.... :D
For me, Garnet and gold, that design = early medieval.... but please wait for more knowledgeable members to comment

That’s INCREDIBLE!! Take it to a jewellers. They’ll be able to tell you what kind of stone it is and the carat of the gold. ☺️
