Anyone signed up for the Rodney Cook Memorial Dig his year? If a few of us are, will we be having a TDH get together?

To be honest I think the Covid situation is far too fluid to be making any long term plans for this Autumn or Winter....

Announcement on the Rodney Cooke Memorial Rally Facebook page yesterday, it's going ahead, only 40 weekend tickets left.
A lot of detectorists let the tickets roll over from last year, including me and I-Rutus (Kevin), Oxgirl (Cath) was asking if we were going, not sure if Cath's going to attend.
3rd-5th September, near Marlborough, Wiltshire.

Hope things work out for you folks this year... How many folks do they expect to attend?

I’m not going after a long think. There’s too many people I’d rather not be around :?

Will be going to the Anton one though I hope. Mike said he’s hoping to arrange it for September. I’d booked for last year so was sorry it was cancelled. He’s promised to let me know so I can update you if he does arrange it this year :D
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

I'm booked to go along to that one.

When I booked they're booking tickets but not taking payment until they're sure it can go ahead, I'd have been happy to pay but it makes sense, I suppose if it doesn't go ahead again it would be a massive hassle refunding everyone.

I'm not sure on the exact numbers - but I'd guess at 300+ish per day. I think it's got too big now, which is great for the charity and for the exhibitors. The last time I went, I spent more time drinking tea and chatting than I did detecting - there was a fair bit of contamination of a few fields.
I was thinking about relinquishing my 2020 place, hence gauging how many form here are still going, or not.

Went to the 2019 dig after enjoying the previous years, which was my first rally.
Had grown too big for my liking and did not find anything of interest.
Will be giving this one a miss.
Good Luck to all those who do attend,
Dave.

I was on the 2018 rally with a few mates. paid for last year but as it was cancelled we rolled the tickets over to this year so fingers crossed it's still going ahead.

For those going - are you camping or getting digs?
I'm a bit too old to camp so was looking at the Premier Inn in Marlborough - so not sure how far this will be from the event.

I'm camping.

I'm not too old to camp as I'm 40 tomorrow but I'm probably too creaky. But I hopefully have the right gear to be comfortable as long as it isn't mega damp, that's when my back gets really bad, but I have decent kit so should be alright.

Well, nearly got the car packed, just waiting on the mi-6 finishing charging.

I put the wine in the car first this time, and I also have a rather nice bottle of Russian vodka. :)

Won't be as early a start for me as the one in Northumberland, that one meant leaving at 0445, this time I get to leave at a much more civilised time.

Anyone else that's going, send me a message if you fancy a beer.
