With my permission fields now in full crop I am a bit stuffed for metal detecting until late august but the break has given me a little time to sort out the tins of odds and ends .
I am looking for a possible ID on this disc if anyone can help please . The outer edges are quite thin , very similar thickness to a jetton but the central disc is raised and quite prominent .Diameter is 25 mm .

To the rear there looks to be the remains of two raised lugs or loop . My wild guess is possibly some leather strap fitting ?
It does appear to have some age to it . Any help greatly recieved

Dare I suggest it looks like a Roman disk brooch. I’m sure I’ve seen one similar but before you get too excited, wait for someone who really knows what they’re looking at.
Very nice find if it is. Wonder, can you remember where you found it,
so you can go back.

It also has the look of a Horse harness boss

I must admit I did wonder if it was possibly something like what you suggest . It came from a field that has produced Roman before so it is possible . I know the exact spot where it was found and I went over that area but it produced nothing more of note .

I was just looking at Roman Brooch pdf file and saw something similar to your find, the back doesn't look quite the same though?

Looks familiar, but with the configuration at the back and the thin profile at the edge it doesn't sound like a brooch. Furniture boss, perhaps?

To me the back doesn't seem like a brooch. Maybe three broken off prongs of a strap mount? But I like it!
