I found the “ring” below earlier today while out with the Nox on a field I have not done before.

Initially I thought it was an olive, but on closer examination it appears to be ring. It looks like it would have been covered in a nice dark green patina but sadly only traces are left.

It has three small holes in it which are spaced equidistant apart around the ring. Interestingly a couple are slightly off the centre line...Two are easy visible but one appears to corroded up but still visible in the hand...

I can’t see any inscription/markings either internally or externally...

So first, is it a finger ring and not some strange plumbing fitting? And secondly, any ideas of its age?

There are three holes spaced out equidistant around the ring...Some sort of setting for stones was my thought too...

However after searching on PAS I found SUSS-A7C746, which is a similar but obviously a lot older "ring" and it's thought to be a type of ferrule, with the holes being for pins to fix it to a wooden rod...

I don't think mine is particularly old but to be on the safe side I will show it to my FLO when I see her next....

Not a finger ring as the edge looks too sharp, but as you say a ferrule of sorts.
