Found this yesterday. Short cross obviously and another one with lovely crisp lettering. Shame it’s not a whole coin as it’d have been a corker. Thoughts on monarch, etc. would be very gratefully received :Luv Ya:

Now that's a challenge! It's a lovely coin though, and in super condition as you say....how deep was it?

This field has had the top soil stripped as they are building a new track through the field so it wasn’t deep - an inch or two down at most :D

Well i just learned something new as a result of your find, Cath.
Allectus used the term " neat lettering ".
Looking in the Coin Book, Richard`s were struck crude and John`s neat.
Cheers,
Dave.

Cor, I'd have liked to have seen that coin whole. Crisp as a very crisp thing that's just been sliced thin and dunked into hot fat until golden brown and lightly salted. Perhaps a little fresh ground black pepper over it, too. And a dusting of smoked paprika would be acceptable.

Sorry, I went off on one a bit there

I thought it might be John with those curly locks. Well done, maybe there's a full one about?

So would I!

But then it probably wouldn’t have been lost so I wouldn’t have anything at all. I’m trying to be pragmatic

I’ve pulled 2 whole ones out about 50 feet away a couple of years ago. Nice ones too :D

Nice quarter Oxgirl, as everyone has said the full coin would have been a belter.
Well found and well saved.
