Hi All,

HolzHammer (aka Alexander) here - itinerant antiques dealer currently, and for the foreseeable future, navigating an endless triangle between Hampshire, Hertfordshire and North Wales and being fortunate enough to be able to do a bit of detecting in each zone!
Permission to come aboard?!

This was so clean and crisp when I dug it ( rape stubble, Herts, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - mind you this more than made up for it!) I took one look at the crown and thought it might be an old fruit machine token!
Anyway I think its 15thC French Jeton but any more knowledge would be grateful accepted and much appreciated!

That! is a very nice one with a great patina and no damage by mineral attack by the look of it . You can`t ask for them to turn up much better than that condition. Well found 👍
just seen Caths so I think her description fits better 👍

Well there’s a familiar name. Very, very nice to see you here :D

That’s a beautiful condition jetton! The legend reads AVE MARIA GRACIA (Hail Mary Full of Grace). The reverse depicts a long cross with a quatrefoil in the centre. Yes it’s medieval 1385-1415 and probably minted in Paris. Here’s a very similar one on PAS https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts ... /id/998886

Wherever you dug that up has amazing soil conditions, lucky thing!
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Belter of a jetton there, Alexander, though the pleasure of seeing it pales into nothingness when comared with the pleasure of seeing you here :D

(Anyone think I might have overdone that a tad?)

Seriously, it's great to see you, chap.
