Picture of yonder field, from Google Earth, farmer says it might be cultivated.
Hopefully my gammy leg will be fine or I`ll sit in the car sulking all day. :D

Nobody lasted all day....
40 acres, 15 folk.
Stubble. Short in places, long in others, still some bales laying around waiting to go.
1 line cultivated bottom to top! Weather and bales not being picked up had made things awkward.
70% easy enough to detect. Soft ground easy to dig.
Finds sparse at best.
Buttons, buckles, loom weights, farm tokens, a fragment of silver pin, several knackered coins almost exclusively 17/1800s.
Highlight being a Medieval chafing dish fitting and a fragment/repair of said dish.
£300 to the farmer to pass on so he was happy, onwards and upwards!

Some scenic photo`s to follow!

I am surprised you didn't get a bigger turn out give the potential for the area......I looked at it myself, but just a bit too far for me, plus we had a club dig ourselves today...I look forward to seeing the pics though.....
