Found this one yesterday (see deus lite thread).
A bit of research reveals the ouroboros symbol of a snake eating itself has being used by societies since Egyptian and Greek ages right through to modern day so could be hard to pin an age on this one.
Some ouroboros pendants are suspended at the point where the stub is on the tail so maybe there was a loop on top of that at some point? I think it was probably circular rather than oval when it was new.
Hard to get decent light on it but there are traces of gilding on the inside edge and some decoration on the body.

Yeah I’ve changed my mind about that. I was thinking that if it was a pendant then it wouldn’t hang right if it was suspended from the stub if that had a loop on originally but if as Allectus thinks, it could be an annular brooch then the gap between the stub and head could house a pin. Then it would look right being oval . Or if it is a pendant a cord could be attached at that same point and hang correctly.
It’s an intriguing one!

I don't feel that it's an annular brooch as the pivot idea doesn't really work for me looking at it. But the stub should have some purpose though.
