Not a lot to go on as in poor condition but any idea what this silvered copper could be, looks like it could be Roman but is it Roman?
Dia 3.1cm - thickness 1.5mm with bust facing right and looks like 2 figures standing on reverse.
Tried identifying on the internet and on another Forum but no joy, am i just being too hopeful for my first Roman coin.

Hi, and welcome to the forum

It looks to me like the obverse is a crowned female bust facing left and it's not Roman, sadly. But I could be way off the mark!

Thanks figgis for your reply and really grateful for your observations. On the plus side it means i can still have that hope every time i turn a sod over that it may be my first Roman coin. One day eh!!!!

You should get a Roman eventually and it will be a day you remember.
Good Luck,

1.5mm thick? Agree it’s got to be a sestertius doesn’t it. Darn things are usually worn though :silent:
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

As you can prob tell keyfits, Oxgirl is rather fond of Roman coinage... anything Roman in fact floats her boat... :D

Best hold yer horses on this one! It seems that others think differently, and having looked closely at it again I think what I took to be features are actually damage marks which could be misleading these old minces.

Yes, not the best condition to ID but thanks again for your reply. So i guess its back to "is it Roman" A couple of others as you stated think yes which was also my initial opinion but as i have not found one or even seen one before in the flesh sort of speak i thought i would put it out there for other with more experienced in this field to give it a Yes or No? Would be great if someone could come up with a similar coin with similar details that match the bits of detail on this one for a comparison.

Thanks again for your input.
