They keep turning up everywhere! Can’t find ANYTHING else though. Actually that’s a lie - one button and 3 nails, 2 bits of lead and some unidentifiable bronze stuff today, but nothing of much interest.

This one is, I think either a Commodus or a Marcus Aurelius? Not sure which way the reverse should be so you have both options so no one shouts at me!

Pasture with way too much growth and the usual Deus HOT settings, reactivity at 2.5 and the X35 11” coil.

Well done on a Sestertius, Cath. :clapping:

Looking forward to the final ID.

Well done cath let’s hope there’s some more of your favourite coins waiting to be found with coins of that age you have every chance of anything popping out

Thank you Roman  This one has a beard so not Trajan then :Luv Ya: he’s looking right if that helps work it out.

On the reverse it might be a lady looking face on, bare breasted lady?

3 in 3 visits in an area in the last month where normally there is very little Roman. And 6 of these from this area in total but with no other Roman coins but one strap end and one steelyard weight. Very weird!

Here’s a straight one

There again I’m on the wine so seeing things that doesn’t exist is highly likely too

Poor ole Oxgirl - nothing but Roman rubbish to report as usual

I'm seeing all sorts of shapes on that reverse. But looking at that and the style of hair/beard on the portrait - is there a chance this is a barbarous issue?

Has the look and feel of a second century Rome mint one. The bits of the portrait that are there are very fine, I’m struggling to get decent photos of it. Pretty sure it’s an Auerlius :problem:

Darn it I’m getting sucked into researching Roman coins now

Might be a candidate for the pencil lead trick - go over it with a pencil, rub it in with a finger and see if anything emerges
