Have you ever found a lead bag token and wondered how it was made.

About a year ago i found a hammer hubbed lead token die (die diameter 8mm) which i first thought it was a celtic coin die due to the design looking like some kind of animal, but after a good clean and on closer inspection noticed that the round die has a square cut out protruding slightly at one end of the die, not obvious from the photo as the rim of the die has folded over a bit from the constant hammering during the seals making process and probably why it was disgarded.

I know there are many different kind of dies, thousands in fact, but this one had me thinking it was something special at first. so have you ever found a lead bag seal with anything like the design of this die? Flo thinks it's possibly the bag seal makers own design.

What a belter of a find

We find any number of coins/tokens etc with stamped or "hammered" designs but rarely get to find the die that made that design. Very rare, and well done. I'd love to find something like that

Love it! I wonder if it’s a lead token mould/ die rather than a bag seal one. I’m sure I’ve seen tokens with that abstract type design.
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.
