Zoomorphic something..

I would again appreciate your help - I have had a quick look on PAS, but the search "zoomorphic" threw up rather a list to search. Is this a buckle fragment of some sort? and dare I think it's fairly early?

The thin end looks like a foot in a sandal to me!

Haha! I did think it looked a bit like an acorn as well. It’s an unusual piece , will be interesting to hear others opinions

My first thought was that it might be one of those novelty pipe tampers that’s been bent out of shape but what do I know!

It looks like just over half of an early medieval zoomorphic buckle to me :Thinking:

Thats it, just looks a bit different because the lug that fixes the handle to the dish has fused onto it :thumbsup:

Many thanks! I first thought buckle as Oxgirl said, but that lug didn't look to be be in a placement that made sense. I did a video on twitter that may show it better....
