I was quite surprised as on Saturday evening mrs paint said can I join you on the club dig tomorrow which I have asked her many times to join me so I was pleased
Anyway off we went most digs are about half hour away so good time to chat in the car away from the teenager arrived and started to detect and had a call I think I have found a coin very calmly so went over to see what she had found only to discover she had found a commonwealth penny not amazing condition but it’s a hammy one more than I found that day so well done to Mrs paint still trying to convince here my ring and cross I found that day trumped her coin

Great news that you had a couples day out detecting. I know you love going out together, or certainly are very convincing if you aren’t

Your ring and crucifix trump her coin in my view, although it’s darn close cause a commonwealth penny is pretty special and one many of us have searched for fruitlessly for some time!

Edit: forgot to add, well done to her :Star:
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Well done to both Mr and Mrs P, not only two cracking finds but great to see a couple out together sharing this amazing hobby.

I do like that cross, a great find .... but a Commonwealth coin even in this condition is a bit special.

Mods: I think this thread needs a poll.
IMHO the cross would certainly beat a coin in that condition of both a Charles I or II, it would not even be close.
BUT a good condition Commonweath coin would beat the cross.

Decisions, decisions .... OK the coin toss was a tail .. the Commonwealth coin and Mrs P get the vote.

Mrs paint has ask for a poll we are going on a rally this weekend and the washing up and cooking has been mentioned for the week end

From the original post don’t forget the unidentifiable old ring I found hopefully that could sway the vote in my direction unless there is a conspiracy for paint to do the washing up

It’s a slippery slope letting the other half go out with you….. everything will be a competition and you’ll always lose.
I go out alone to get away from Mrs Shaggy 🤣🤣
Some lovely items there. For me I like the commonwealth
