A few hours out this afternoon after a car showroom visit for her 50th birthday & many thousands lighter, I needed to relax, so headed to a soft soil corner of a field near Bicester, a couple of belt/strap mounts & a nice condition beehive thimble was all that came up, at least the thimble wasn’t squashed so will sit with these others in the cabinet when dry after a wash.
Clint

That's a great collection you have there, chap  My beehive total is one and a half and it would be lovely to add to it.

Lovely finds that i think i would be extremely happy with finding :clapping:
Love finding thimbles in the fields, who would of thought the excitment at finding a whole thimble from hundreds of years ago brings to detectorists

The excitement I get from finding random bits of metal is worrying :?

That is a very nice collection of thimbles you have there.

I have found a few over the years but do not have any to show for it ..... a lady I know started collecting thimbles a few years ago (as they take up a lot less room than the dolls which she collected previously) so any I find soon disappear when she hears about them!.

But I can not say to much as this is the one she has that I found. When I gave it to her it was black and horrible, you would never have guessed that it was even silver (I certainly did not!). Its much better her having it and displaying it where family and friends can see it than for me to have it tucked away out of sight.
