First silver in weeks, found in the area where the road is being built and the top layer has been stripped back. Desperation as still most of my good land is undetectable.

Think it’s a Henry III voided long cross one but any further info would be very welcome. The obverse is thankfully of the top of the crown so hopefully that might help with the ID :D

Thanks folk :Luv Ya:

Nice condition apart from being cut into quarters that one, much nicer than the last one I found.

I don't think there is much more satisfying in life than finding a cut quarter in nice condition like that! well done!

I agree. I like to find cut quarters cause I know I’m not missing the whole ones then  Mind you this took ages to find in the mud - we’ve been spoilt by the dry weather! I’d also forgotten what it’s like having sticky gloves, muddy boots and dirty clothes!

Nice find. I’ve only ever found one cut quarter and that was years ago with the explorer.
Was that on your usual deus hot program with just the reactivity changed to 2.5 Cath?

Maybe apart from finding a full one in as great condition?

 I can’t argue with that either. The worst for me is a rubbish quarter - worst of all worlds :(

I still like finding the rubbish ones, it's better finding a nice one but as long as I can tell it is what it is I'm happy.

Weirdly I've found a few quarters but no halves, I wonder if more of them got cut down to quarters eventually than got lost as halves.

It's all or nothing for me, I'd rather find a rubbish full one than just a good part! :D

I have found about equal numbers of halves and quarters. I wonder though if more quarters were lost as they are so tiny? I guess they are the hardest to find though so more likely to have been missed by previous detecting. It would be interesting to know how many of each were produced but I guess we'll never know.

What about finding a thick foil cap from a vet's precription that someone's folded to look like a cut half or quarter..... or that gold foil from chocolate coins..... surely that has to be the worst of all worlds? :pulling hair out: You've been spoilt for far too long if rubbish cut quarters are the simply the pits
