Good afternoon fellow detectorists.

Yesterday I went back out to the field where I found the bronze spear heads. I swear that they must’ve been a fluke, because only bits of bronze have come up since. Either way, the FLO said that I might as well go as many times as I can so that it can all be added to the same ‘hoard’ when I hand it over.

So, low and slow I went. An hour up and an hour back down. In total was out 5 hours and the below photos show what came up.

Buttons various with a fun one that seems to have a heraldic/coat of arms image of a hare running through the countryside.

A few buckets, can anyone help with age??

A few chunks of lead.

And of course, more bronze. I didn’t find the rest of Jesus this time, but came across a nice decorated piece, as well as other chunks of various shapes and sizes. Can bronze be a blackish grey colour??

Any ID’s would be gratefully received.

Emily. x

That hare button is very nice. I wonder if it might be a hunting one froma beagle pack?????

I assume you know the item in the first photo (on your fingers) is part of a crotal bell.

Some good finds.
Photo 1. Crotal bell fragment Emily.
Ring buckle in 2nd photo, had a similar one last week and for a brief second thought it was a ring, could be Medieval.
Hare button is different.
Good session.
Cheers,
Dave.

The hare button is maybe from a gamekeeper's jacket?

Ditto on crotal bell piece  Everything in photo is medieval - a belt mount bottom right, another belt mount/ stiffener and a buckle.

Interesting range of dates in that field

Edit: photo 2 I meant!

I really like the zoomorphic mounts. Bit like a hedgehog. I found one a couple of years ago and gave it to the landowner.

Decoration on your belt is my guess a bit like studs on a modern belt

I though it was, so it’s good to have it confirmed. ☺️

I’m sure the spear heads were a fluke. Maybe dropped by a medieval person??

Thank you. I think it could be closer to the one TheFenTiger found. A hedgehog thing. ☺️ It’s missing the back bit thought.

On the database there are a lot with hedgehog, pine cone, scallop, dog or bear in the description if you just search zoomorphic mount
