Afternoon All,

A couple of bits needing help ID-ing please...
The Republican denarius is only the second I have found and thing it shares in common with the first is that it is the only Roman bit I have found in the immediate area surrounding the find spot!!! And I'm not sure the cut half is "cut" - looks broken to me...

Many thanks in advance for any help and knowledge - does anyone have a very conservative value on the Roman? I would like to buy the landowner out of his half so I can add it to the collection - I don't think he will be particularly interested in it anyway but he is a nice bloke and I want to keep him sweet!

Great finds

Edit: This is one that sold

Lovely Republican, Alex. :clapping:
Nothing wrong with buying the landowner out. You appreciate the coin for its History etc and their not that common and the landowner will have a few quid to do as with whatever..
Your thoughts on £40 seem reasonable.
Cheers,
Dave.

I'd research the auction (not retail) prices for the coin, average out the most recent prices for those of similar condition, and offer that*.

I agree the Edward is broken rather than cut, by the way

*Edit - offer HALF of that

That's a very nice Roman but is that a counter mark on his cheek?

Sold prices on Ebay give a realistic value. There are two that sold for £58 & £67. One was in better condition than yours if that helps so I'd guess it would fetch about £60.

Couple of bits - you have another triple set. If you weren’t such a nice guy I’d start to dislike you by now

Great coins, I can even admire that Roman! I’ll watch the video tomorrow with a nice cup of tea :D
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Just watched your latest vid 👍
Don’t know if you know the answer to this or even if there is one?!
Those pre conquest roman coins, is it thought that the Romans had them with them and were still using them at the time of the conquest even though they’d been around for a fair while already? Or is it that they came here through trading pre Roman conquest? Might explain why the two you’ve found haven’t been found near any other roman stuff.
