Spending a few days away on the east coast not far from Sutton Hoo Just had to visit

Got there a bit later than planed but managed to see the main parts, the exhibition, house and the mounds.

As we arrived late we managed to wangle half price so if any one plans to go allow at least 3 hours before 15:30 to see the lot at a more relaxed pace

An amazing place, eh? Ok, a lot of the finds (most?) are replicas but you still get the sense of wonderment at the skills of these people

The skill to create true works of art is mind boggling, the buckle although a copy at Sutton Hoo is really something special, I will be in London for a few days soon so will go and see the original at the British museum

Yes, that's what I found disappointing when I visited. I think the only genuine finds there are rusty nails :|

Hi Steve,
Travelled down from Northumberland a month or so ago to the BM.
Had a great day spent most of the day drooling over the Sutton Hoo room.

To see the original treasure is spine tingling.

Hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did.

Reiver.

That's more like it!

Obviously the very special items like those need the security of the BM, but it would be nice if the site could have retained just a few minor pieces that could be viewed where they were found.
