Hello all,
I have an odd assortment of bits and pieces I would love some help with IDing, if anyone has any ideas i would be very grateful. With many thanks

Very irregular fitting on back, looks too deep to be a mount?

ID’d as a Roman brooch at group dig. Any idea of age (early/late)

I’ve got as far as IDing this as a shield of France Jetton (I think), 1346-80? But I can’t find anything that matches the ‘cross’ side of it, and I can’t figure out what the legend reads either.

Early(BA/iron age?) bronze ring, 'shield of France' jeton & the other piece looks modern.

A ;)

Thank you so much for your reply Blackadder. I will get my FLO on the case with the ring (please let it be BA 🙏😂). I found the jetton in heavy clay and could scarcely believe my eyes when I saw the condition of it. I’m just a bit frustrated that I can’t find a match for the design at all online. But I love this hobby so much 😀

Sorry Easylife, I actually meant I’ve spent fruitless hours identifying a match for the jetton. The ring on the other hand I only dug up this afternoon, so I will have many anticipated wonderful hours of research on it, thanks to you wise lot on this forum, when I’m not hassling my FLO. Thanks for the link though, can’t wait to trawl through it!

Love a jetton mystery. Obviously a French 14th century one (it has a shield of France on the obverse) but the sexfoil border on the shield is unusual. But anyway here you go https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/90999
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Thank you so much again Oxgirl for the information and finding a match for it! It was finding a similar reverse that had me stumped. I’m so grateful to you!
