A very interesting article.

A Henry VII half groat, from 1493 - 1499, would be a nice find in the UK but not "news headlines", what a difference the location makes as this is a unique find in Canada.

This coin was almost certainly lost over 100 years after it was minted, either by one of the first British settlers or a sailor. These people would be no different to most people back home in the UK, so if they had coins over 100 years old on them its likely that the same was the case in the UK - a point well worth remembering when we find old coins.
