Hi

I found this yesterday on my permission in Cambridgeshire, not far from Ely. I have no idea what it is and I was hoping you might have some insights. To me, it looks as if there is a 'Tudor Rose' in the centre, which is repeated. It has a gold coating. The reverse has no detail but also has some kind of gold plating. I guess it's double sided. The plough has given it a rough time, but there might be enough for you to have a stab at. Hopefully this is a better image. Sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie.

Thank you so much
Steve

Just a guess but is it part of a pomander ?

Its decorative but with a function perhaps, some other ideas from others as to its ID will help

I note it has a fixing hole in the centre of each side.

I would have thought it was an air grill for something. By that I mean a decorative grill allowing air to circulate in it whilst reducing dust. Could be a pomander, as already suggested, or part of a musical instrument or a box or similar.
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Corner fixings would be more practical. I generally just call these furniture fittings.
