Hi guys slow days digging on one of our favourite fields finds from Celtic all the way through. Crop failed and is a write off, so we have it untill spring yay! Even convinced farmer to scalp 6 inches of this winter in a particular spot, result!.
Was looking forward to today's hunt and one of those fields you can spend 8 hrs and nothing, or find something very interesting. Todays find of the day was looking like a Canadian military button. Until I happened on this my new favourite find! Then last knockings my mate found this beautiful partefact of a crossbow fibula, great day! And help with ageing clover button? Would be greatly recieved

I don't think it is a crossbow brooch fragment, hence the request for additional pics. Whatever it is, it has great age to it though

Then again, I'm invariably wrong

It has the look of a toggle, as said by Easylife a close fastener perhaps

It does have a brooch feel  . I have looked through the toggles and can’t see anything similar. Love to know now too!
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking
