Really oddly I was only very recently thinking I had a) never found an Elagabalus coin and I think that's what it is ( fourée?) - I had been reading up about him, my what an oddball poor chap - the way he carried on not surprising he didn't last long and b) that it had been an aeon since I found an early fibula and this must be one isn't it? I have never seen this design I really like it there is no corrosion on the Bronze/copper at all...

Afternoon all! Any help much appreciated - the double sided anchor thing I know I have seen before but can't put my finger on it and the nail cleaner is a cracker!

Hope all well
Alexander

What a cracking set of finds! (AGAIN)

That brooch is definitely late Iron Age/early Roman (at its youngest) and a lovely example.

Thanks John... the brooch made my day I literally had been thinking only yesterday that I hadn't found something similar/that age for ages... very odd... I'll start thinking about gold hammered from now on...!

It's strange how that can happen, isn't it? Exactly the same thing happened to me with, again, an early fibula but blowed if it's currently working with Roman silver  :D
