Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie on this platform but am on various other platforms/social media sites.

I have been Metal Detecting for just under 4 years and have Unearthed some amazing finds including bucket Listers and a once In a detectorists lifetime (maybe more if your very lucky) discovery - a Roman Republic Hoard!

I started out with a Teknetics Eurotek Pro (which found me the best find yet - the hoard 😱) but I have recently upgraded to a Nokta Makro Simplex.

I live on the outskirts of Chester over the border in N.Wales

I'm very passionate about metal detecting and I don't mind admitting I'm addicted 😂

Oh wow 8-) Im famous for not really bring a fan of roman coins but that lot even I would drool over. Superb result

Assuming they an easy spot on the detector as they weren’t too deep but did you find a few odd coins first or the main deposit? I’m always fascinated by where these hoards were buried. I know near Roman roads were a popular choice but it would make sense near a villa or other habitation too. I guess I’m asking if there was something that indicated there should be a hoard or was it just a random find?

So many questions!

I found 64 scattered in a small area just under the surface which I obviously picked up as I found them. Then after a while I found the main hoard. Stopped immediately, didn't touch it and called in the Archeologists. It's currently in the British Museum being cleaned ready for valuation.

There was no obvious reason for it to be there really 🤷🏼‍♂️

Welcome Daz.
If there is one coin I like it`s a Roman Denarius, lucky enough to have found 2.
You found 64 before a pot load. :o
Look forward to seeing what they all were.
Congratulations on a brilliant find.
Cheers,
Dave.
