I don't do twitter or face book but looking at your pic. look's possible like the lower part of a sword or dagga chape from a scabbard but missing the piece that attached to the actual scabbard itself. ?

I doubt very much its part of any modern British projectile...if you Google PIAT HEAT round, you'll see what he on about, but to me they only have a very passing similarity ...
