Love a mystery, Andy, and if it's of any help, I had a quick shufti and W&M farthings come in around the 4g mark. When it comes to GIII forged shillings, however...

They come in at around the 4g mark an all, so that exercise was a fat lot of good

The weight seems to range between 4 and 6 grams, depending where abouts on the scale I put the coin. I know the coin is a mess, but I thought it was a bit interesting anyway.
You don’t have proper scales? Seriously go get some. They are around £10 on amazon and really are worth having (along with electronic callipers for working out the size of so many things ) - search for ‘jewellery weighing scales‘.

No idea on the coin though 8-)
Yes I really don’t like Roman coins, I’m not joking

Just don't order your mini digital scales at the same time as a batch of little ziplock finds bags or you'll have the police breaking your door down early one morning. ;)
That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.

Hurrah, the scales have arrived and the coin weighs 3.32 grams.
