Hello everyone! I am the wifey of Lord Figgis .....God help ye all!
Three years ago I was in two minds for a stocking filler for his Lordship..a Litre bottle of gin from Tesco ( don't tell him) or a cheap, Chinese metal detector...I opted for the second, hoping it would get him out from under my feet. It worked! and within three months he upgraded..until one day he asked if I wanted to tag along......Jenkins had a day off that day   I know, he was looking for a replacement. Anyway! This stirred my passion. I already loved social history, but to pull something out the ground, which had last been touched by the owner was and is, an amazing feeling! I personally love the research.

I can't offer much in regards to knowledge, but I can share passion and admiration in your finds.....and share the joys and pitfalls of being a wifey of a detectorist.

Welcome in Susie
A pleasure to finally meet you, albeit in a virtual manner

I feel your pain though with Lord Figgis, i too have been trying to get him out from under my feet, but as yet no success
I tried Jelly beans, but he insisted on Gin flavoured ones!!

Its actually great to have a Husband and Wife team here with us, we can all watch when you start finding all the good stuff and Lord Figgis doing his walk of shame back to the car....

Hello wifey. Fancy seeing you here. Don't believe a word anyone says about my gin consumption which, as you know, I strictly follow doctor's advice on

Hi Susie,
Had to reply to this post.
When Figgis had disappeared from over the road , had wrongly assumed that the very recent marriage, ( congratulations ) had brought about the end of his detecting days. Glad to see you are into this as well.
Is it just me or does John bear a strong resemblance to Nigel Havers, in the Wedding photo he posted a few weeks back. Must say I enjoy the Dealers room programme on BBC 1in the afternoons.
Anyway enjoy your detecting.
All the best,
Dave.

Hi Dave,

Thank you!...I did say to John that people would assume that married life had taken precedence....glad to say that I could never change that passion, and would never try to. I'm looking forward to filling the house with my finds 😁

John is actually the love child of Nigel Havers and Lionel Blair.....though I'm still waiting to see his dancing talents
